Definition

Demographic environment refers to the human population characteristics that surround a firm or nation and that greatly affect markets. The demographic environment includes such factors as age distributions, births, deaths, immigration, marital status, sex, education, religious affiliations, and geographic disperson—characteristics that are often used for segmentation purposes.[1]
